The Joint Meeting of the Virginia and Mid-Atlantic Propane Gas Associations was held at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg Virginia October 11-13, 2009. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated during the Supply Panel discussion, at committee meetings and at all the meeting functions. This was an especially memorable meeting as members from both groups had time to get to know each other, network and enjoy time together.
For those of you who missed the meeting, here are some highlights:
- VAPGA’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to establish a VAPGA PAC in 2010
- Mark Krause, a lawyer specializing in propane emergencies, gave an update on “Duty to Warn” notifications
- Dennis Cruise covered information on safety including the reverse signal regulation (check out the VAPGA website and page 5 of the October newsletter for details)
- Phil Squair of NPGA gave an update on national issues, including climate change legislation and a bill to amend the PERA statute
- VAPGA’s board voted to approve the 2010 budget which will reflect a dues increase to help rebuild the reserve fund
- MAPGA President Nash McMahan received a special Virginia welcome, which included a slide show by Mark Callahan of MAPGA during the dinner banquet and being strung up by the original “Propane Pirates”
- Bayshore Ford of Delaware and Roush displayed a propane-powered Ford F-150 to attendees.
- The winning team of the VAPGA & MAPGA Golf Tournament consisted of Tim Carlson of Centennial, MAPGA Executive Director Jonathan Williams, Casey Harvey of Ray Murray, and Carlton Revere of Revere Gas.
As always, meetings are open to members, members from other state Associations, guests, and individuals and companies looking to join the Association. Committee meetings are also open to members and you can audit any committee meeting before joining. Because the committees are a driving force behind how the Association operates as a whole, all members are strongly encouraged to participate and help to shape the Association.
If you would like to review presentations from the meeting, they are available online at www.propaneva.com in the members section.
